Description
This work brings together a geometric rhythm made entirely of stylized human figures, Cecconello’s signature ominidi. Crafted in gilded plaster and linked in an unbroken chain. These repeated, almost anonymous bodies loop and intersect to form precise patterns, turning people into something that feels like decoration or a perfectly engineered mechanism. Behind them, three textured bands of white, gold, and black unfold across the canvas. Each stripe carries visible drips, rough patches, and intentional imperfections that softly disrupt the order created by the gleaming figures. The contrast between the raw, tactile background and the flawless golden shapes creates a striking tension. At its core, the piece speaks to the unsettling way individuality can disappear within larger systems. The ominidi, faceless and indistinguishable, bend and conform to rigid geometric paths. As if shaped by a force greater than themselves. It’s a powerful reminder of how easily people can become mere components in a collective design, valued more for uniformity than for identity.
