Using only charcoal and Sanguine, I stepped into Leonardo Da Vinci's shoes in an interpretation of The Head of the Virgin in Three-Quarter View Facing Right. This drawing is a study of anatomy of the face, and an exploration of a titled head. Applying the charoal and sanguine in strategic places shows us that the drawing can achieve a 3-dimensional look (ronde-bosse) with just a few strokes.
